Whether you're sharing your expertise, showing up to support an event, or helping build the Labs from the ground up, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make your mark.
Mentors
Mentors are at the heart of what makes Upskilling Labs work. This role is for experienced practitioners, people who have spent years in their field and have the depth of knowledge to guide others through real problems. Their experience helps teams navigate challenges, build new skills, and gain the confidence to do their best work. Whether through a single workshop or a deeper relationship with a pod over the course of a build cycle, mentors support pods and individual participants when they get stuck, have questions, or need a sounding board. Some mentors design and lead workshops on topics they know well. Others help teams with their projects. The shape of the role is flexible and can be defined by your interest and availability.
Communications
Team
The Comms Team is responsible for building awareness of The Upskilling Labs’ mission and attracting new participants, volunteers, and partners. We are not just a marketing function - we handle branding, PR, philanthropic communications, and storytelling across all channels. We are looking for creative, passionate communicators who can help us amplify what's possible. We are the voice and visual identity of everything we do. More than marketing. We’re the mission's megaphone.
We support our programming and engagement teams with internal communications too, keeping participants informed and inspired every step of the way.
Governance
Team
The Governance Team provides strategic oversight and direction for The Upskilling Labs. They ensure the organization stays true to its mission, makes sound decisions, and has the resources needed to grow and sustain its programs.
Participant
Success Team
The Participant Success Team supports Upskillers throughout their Upskilling Labs journey. We ensure people are engaged, supported, and making progress towards their Upskilling goals. Not only do we perform a membership function for the organization, we also support teams (Pods) working through a build cycle, checking in on progress, surfacing challenges, and collecting and analysing data for continuous improvement.
Programs &
Events Team
The Programs & Events Team organizes a variety of events, including workshops, panels, and meetups. Their work creates the spaces where learning happens, connections are made, and ideas come to life. If you enjoy bringing people together around meaningful experiences, this is the team for you.
Research &
Development Team
The R&D team builds and maintains the technical infrastructure that powers Upskilling Labs, from the website to the infrastructure that enables seamless community engagement.
